| BHTM Here are some of the BHTM related questions we're e-mailed about the most frequently and a few other things we threw in that we thought you might like.
Can you help me with my "Live at the Fillmore" DVD problems?
Here is what our Technical Director, who authored the disc, said
about the user problems:
- By far the most common report is a glitch or pause at the beginning of Angela Dangerlove. This is almost certainly due to the layer break. In the future we may add a note to our packaging: "When playing back this dual-layer DVD, some players may pause or "hiccup" briefly when changing layers. This is normal, and occurs with all dual-layer discs."
- No rew/fwd possible during some songs. This is known, and frustrating, player behavior when there are on-screen menus (as there are during any Monster MX segment). Player-specific, and unfortunately no fix is possible via programming.
- Disc just stops playing after awhile. In at least one case, the poster followed-up and reported his player did that with multiple discs. I suspect it's a player issue, maybe due to overheating. My first DVD player (now here at MX) will lock up after about 45 minutes, on any disc, until it's allowed to cool down again.
- There's one report of the menu being jumped to after the each song. I don't know what could account for this, as the way chapters were programmed didn't present any discretely - the concert plays through from the song selected. This is likely a player issue, but may be exacerbated by the unusual way the chapters were programmed on this disc. This is the one person I'd offer a replacement disc and/or refund to, as well as requesting details on his DVD player model
- One other common complaint that we hadn't talked about those months back is the presence of a movie camera icon when the second channel content is selected. This is a player preference that can be disabled in the set up menu.
What was that one song you played during that one show?
Umm...checkout the past shows page, we have setlists available for almost every show over the last couple years.
Where have I heard "Boom Boom" before?
It is on a truck commercial, but it is not the BHTM version, they wouldn't agree to it. TGI Fridays also made their own version of the song for an ad campaign, after BHTM denied them using their version.
Can I get a backstage pass?
What few backstage passes the band is allotted are for friends and family of the band and crew.
Sorry that we can't get you backstage, but you can still meet the guys.
Can BHTM send out my request at the next show?
Sorry, we wish we could hook you up, but we get so many requests like this (birthdays, marriage proposals, etc...) that there isn't any way to accommodate everyone and it just wouldn't be fair to others who've asked.
What are the chords to Bittersweet?
The four chords of Bittersweet are: G,D, A minor (A on a bass), and C. The break is an A that walks to a C.
What are the chords for Brother John?
The verses are d, c, g (the d is a c up two frets, not an open d strum) and the change is e minor, c, g.
Meaning of the song "Brother John"?
So we asked Todd what his lyrics to Brother John were about and this is the response we received "Brother John follows the pattern of the famous folk song but there is an added moral in the bridge "May your awakening be near, Heaven could be any place, why not here"".
Why is "Come On" on both the COP and Riviera CD's?
Come On was re-recorded and re-mastered for Crimes of Passion because of the great response we received from fans when it appeared as a rough recording on the bonus tracks of Riviera. It only appears on the first 50,000 copies of Riviera, subsequent pressings of the CD did not contain Bonus Tracks.
When will the band release a CD of cover songs?
The band has always said that someday they will release a cd full of cover songs, but they have no idea when that will be...we'll let you know when we do!
Can I bring my tape recorder to a live show?
Yes! Now that we have split from Giant Records recording is welcomed and encouraged. But some venues don't allow it and we can't do anything about their recording policy.
How can I get a live recording from a show?
Pay a visit to our Message Boards and check the Tape Trading section

Do you have any Tabulature books?
Sorry, at this time we don't have any tablature books, but we may in the future. Keep checking back with us, but in the mean time try here:
Guitartabs.cc or the TabRobot site
Do a search under "group/artist" for Big Head Todd. There is a wealth of tabs here, however, as these did not originate from us we cannot vouch for their accuracy.
Also, folks on the BHTM Friends Yahoo group can probably point you in the right direction
Join the list and you will be able to access a wealth of BHTM knowledge!
Is Ticketmaster Evil?
Not eivil, just misguided, unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done about Ticketmaster....I'll try to tell you briefly how it works. The band is booked and a flat fee is negotiated and paid to them for doing a show. Occasionally they will get a set percentage of tickets sold, but not often. The promoter of the show or particular venue is responsible for ticket sales, the band has nothing to do with that. Unfortunately most venues have contracts with agencies (mostly Ticketmaster) for selling their tickets. If a band (such as Pearl Jam) decides that they don't want TicketMaster to sell their tickets (and profit from the sales), they don't play at the venues that contract with TicketMaster. The problem with that is that you really narrow your playing field (as PJ found out the hard way) and miss the opportunity to play for a large part of your fan base. Something like 75% of the the nation's clubs/theaters/amphitheaters have an exclusive contract with TM. So unfortunately there's really no way around it, other than boycotting music venues altogether! Really, the only feasible alternative is to buy directly from the venue's box office (if they offer this service), thus avoiding TM's obnoxious surcharges. I realize this is difficult or impossible to do if you do not live in the vicinity of the show that you will be attending. We now sell tickets for most of our shows on our website, visit the tour page and click on the BUY link next to the show you want.
Why don't you guys ever come to <my city, my state>?
Here's how it works: The band's booking agency informs clubs all across the U.S.A when the band plans on touring. Then, the venues/clubs who want us to play call back and book us. If they don't call, we can't go...So bug your local clubs to bring us to your town!
Here is the number of our booking agency--pass it along!!
Monterey Peninsula Artists - (831) 375-4889.
When is the band coming to my town?

What's your address?
BHTM Recording
881 Brickyard Circle #A1
Golden, CO 80403
Where did the band name come from?
The name is a tribute to legendary blues/jazz "heads" (eg. Eddy Clean-head Vincent, etc.) It was actually just a fluke--they were scheduled to perform their first gig, but had no name...Todd came up with that at the spur of the moment and it stuck!
What type of bass gear does Rob use?
I love my Warwicks and use them in the studio a lot. I also have Modulus and Fender. Different makes and models have different tones and I recently added
my Ernie Ball. It has a great tone and travels very well (It'sindestructible). It has a nice clean yet aggressive tone. I use several effects including chorus, mooger fooger and distortion.

What is your favorite backstage story?
Todd: Well actually I had a pretty cool experience. I was on my way to the bus and my wife and I stopped at the store in a museum. I ran into Steven Tyler (lead singer for Aerosmith) and I'd never met him before. I introduced myself to him and told him I was a fan of his and he said "I'm a fan of yours!" So we gave him an album and he asked for my autograph. It was kind of funny - Steven Tyler asking you for your autograph. I was just a little star-struck. |
